Company Bio:

For more than 25 years, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County (HfH-MC) has been partnering with the community and low-income families living in substandard conditions, to build simple, decent, affordable housing. To date, HfH-MC has built and rehabilitated 31 homes for local families. Our homes are built by a largely volunteer workforce and then sold to qualified families at no-profit and financed with affordable, no interest mortgages. The family's monthly mortgage payments are paid directly to HfH-MC and go into a revolving fund which helps to build even more Habitat homes. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor - “sweat equity” - into building their homes. At HfH-MC, we are not only committed to meeting the housing need of our community –we are also committed to providing residents with a full range of supportive services to help them maintain their homes, mortgages and families! As one of 2,200 Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the United States, HfH-MC is currently focused on completing the last 12 townhomes of a 24 townhome community in Burtonsville, Maryland. The community will be the first of its kind for HfH-MC and will mark a new beginning for 24 deserving families. Additionally, it will mark a new beginning for our affiliate and our role to address the need for simple, decent affordable housing right here in Montgomery County! We believe this type of multi-family setting will be the future for our affordable housing development in the area and will help us achieve our goal of creating "A Community with healthy, safe, and affordable housing for all". Together we can make a difference in our community and in the lives of many Habitat families!
